Causes Of Heart Disease

The causes of Heart Disease are very easy to explain and also very simple to do something about.

OK - I'm no doctor, but after I had the heart attack I did a lot of research, and once I stripped out all the scientific language and all the statistics, I realized that I could do some very simple basic things to control heart disease.

I hope this explanation has the same profound ffect on you as it had on me.

Heart disease isn't something that just happens to you while you get on with your life.

Heart disease is the direct result of your lifestyle.

If we had led a different lifestyle then we wouldn't have developed heart disease or it wouldn't have developed until we were older, or it wouldn't have been so advanced that it caused a heart attack.

Heart disease symptoms don't show up until it is far advanced, but the great thing is that once you are aware of it, then by controlling the risk factors you can slow down or stop the advancement.

Saturated Fats + No Exercise → Over Weight = Overworked Heart

Saturated Fats + No Exercise → High Cholesterol → Narrowed Arteries

Overworked Heart + Narrowed Arteries = Heart Disease → Heart Attack

If you add smoking into the equation you massively increase your risk of Heart Disease and Heart Attack.

The Good News is that if you do the reverse, and eliminate causes of Heart Disease, you reduce all your risk factors and can slow down the progress of Heart Disease and minimise the chances of a Heart Attack.

So to reduce blood pressure and control cholesterol do the opposite - change your diet, exercise more (which will also reduce you weight and decrease the work that your heart has to do and give up smoking - SIMPLE! but NOT so EASY!

Your Diet is fundamental to your health. If you eat the right types of food you can reduce your level of cholesterol instead of increasing it. Read about Diet And Heart Disease

Exercise strengthens your heart muscle, which means that it takes less effort to pump your blood.

Exercise also removes cholesterol from your arteries so they don't block as quickly. Read about Exercise And Heart Disease

Smoking increases blood pressure & heart rate, partly due to decreased oxygen to the heart; it decreases exercise tolerance and increases the tendency for blood to clot; it decreases HDL (good) cholesterol; it causes damage to the cells in the coronary arteries

Quit smoking and this will all reverse! Read about Smoking And Heart Disease

At any stage in your life you can change your lifestyle to halt the advancement of heart disease.

Every day of your life you can choose between advancing or preventing this progression.

Every meal you eat (or breath you take) or exercise you do or do not take has an effect on heart disease.

Eliminating the causes of Heart Disease will not just mean that you live longer or not, it will also determine the quality of the life you lead.

It's Your Heart. It's Your Life.

It's Your Choice.
