Symptoms of Metabolic Syndrome

There are no symptoms of Metabolic Syndrome as such.

It is not a disease. It is a group of factors, which when they occur together are given this title.

Metabolic Syndrome causes an increased risk of a heart attack, stroke or type 2 diabetes.

Some studies have shown that these risks are twice that of an individual who doesn’t have it.

There are five factors that are considered to indicate Metabolic Syndrome.

  • Above normal blood pressure
  • Low HDL cholesterol
  • High triglycerides
  • High abdominal fat levels
  • Insulin resistance
  • If you have any 3 of the above 5 factors you are considered to have Metabolic Syndrome.

Not all of the individual factors present symptoms, so the only way to identify metabolic syndrome is:

    A cholesterol test

    A blood sugar test

    Have your blood pressure taken

    Measure your waist circumference.

Insulin resistance is considered to be the key factor in Metabolic Syndrome as it can affect your cholesterol, triglycerides and blood pressure.

It is the term used when your body’s use of insulin isn’t efficient enough to keep your blood sugar at a normal level, but the increased level isn’t high enough to be classed as diabetes.

The individual indicators of Metabolic Syndrome can all be easily controlled or avoided by natural methods or by medication.

Don’t wait until you are classed as having Metabolic Syndrome, act now and reduce your risk.

It’s Your Heart. It’s Your Life.

    It’s Your Choice.
