There Is More Than One Type of Heart Disease

Each type of heart disease has it's own causes, symptoms and treatment.

However the phrase “Heart Disease” is used in the media and everyday conversation, as though there is just one type.

This can be very confusing for patients and their families.

Heart Diseases fall into two main categories and a number of specific diseases.




Organic Heart Disease refers to a disease that results from a situation where the heart (organ) has been damaged by a specific situation.
