Vitamin E and Heart Disease
Over the last 25 years a multitude of studies about Vitamin E and
Heart Disease have been conducted
Most of these studies have researched increased dosage in the form of supplements.
Although some have concluded that there is a definite benefit, others have concluded that there is no benefit.
So if the scientific studies can't reach a conclusion, what should you do?
What is interesting is that studies have shown that people with heart disease will benefit from eating foods with high levels of Vitamin E.
One of the reasons why food may have a better result than a vitamin supplement is that they also contain various other micronutrients which work with the vitamins to provide maximum nutritional benefit.
However there are not that many foods that contain vitamin E to any great extent.
The foods with the highest Vitamin E content are:
- Wheat germ oil
- Almonds
- Peanuts
- Safflower oil
- Corn oil
- Turnip green
- Mango
- Kiwi
- Spinach

So although as usual the best recommendation is to eat more of the foods that are know to have definite, proven benefits -vegetables and fruits of a variety of colors, nuts, brown rice, whole grains and legumes, there are 2 problems with just relying on our diet.
Most of us do not eat the recommended amount of fruits vegetables or natural foods.
The levels of nutrition in the foods will vary due to growing conditions, pesticides, freshness, style of cooking. etc.
So even with the best will in the world we may still not be getting all the nutrition we need.
So on the eveidence, rather than increasing just your Vitamin E you should back up your diet with a multi supplement that contains not just vitamins, but a complete range of nutrients.
It’s Your Heart. It’s Your Life.
It’s Your Choice.
